15/9/2013 0 Comments Midland Game Fair Day 2Another early start for the Game Fair Day 2. Had the great pleasure of being joined this time by Elspeth Hazell who brought Tanis' daughter Gladwys to join us in the pen. There were a lot more people there that we met up with again, including the absolutely gorgeous Ethel who is Emily Kenyon new baby. You will notice from the photos that Tanis did his second day as belisha beacon sitting on the table. As soon as people came in they say his Tan highlights flashing at them. Gladwys and Cinders took turns to do some of this duty though both of them preferred the nice warm duvet bed under the table. However we soon noticed that they tended to target the little ones walking round and their hands were the perfect height to reach their heads and chest for a fuss. We were fortunate that for the most part the weather held off and though we had some damp moments it was really only when most were going home at 4 pm that the rain was a little more persistent. Have to say considering the dire forecast for today the fair was busy. Have to say that the food on sale was definitely a cut above the normal Fair fare. The pork, crackling and home made sage and onion stuffing roll was wonderful and the salted caramel chocolate brownies were stunning. in fact i brought some home and hubby scoffed one and i took one bite from mine and the next moment couldn't understand how come it had all gone. don't think the remainder will last long. Got home slightly damp and tired but had some very good interest in the breed and met a few new friends doing DD this weekend too.

14/9/2013 0 Comments Midland Game Fair Day OneWas funny today as i arrived early and decided to trim both Tanis and Cinders feet and ears. Both have been avoiding me so now i had a captive audience. Managed to do a creditable job considering most of the feet and feathering was a bit wet. A couple of hours later this strange gentleman came over to ask if he could borrow a pair of scissors. Thinking he was going to use it to cut some paper etc, i was going to say no, but he said his Munster had a couple of mats round his ears and the visitors kept finding them so could we help him remove them. His other Munster didn't have all this hair so he wasn't used to checking it or trimming ears. He was sweetly embarrassed to ask so we were nice to him and helped him out. Karen Partirdge was there too so as a groomer she removed the matts and made him neat and tidy, but i said how come you had asked me. Seems that though he hadn't been there at 8.00 am many others had been and told him i had been grooming and had the required equipment. So we now have a new Game Fair friend in Munsters. More grooming tomorrow as I am informed that i am responsible for Gladwys feet being tidy. 4/9/2013 0 Comments Rally TrainingWe are continuing with our Rally Training with Cinders. We are training with Derbyshire School 4 Paws & Agility Centre run by Kim Hunt. Out Trainer is Rebecca Grant and we moved to the new venue at Strutts in Belper.
Rebecca set up 5 courses of 4 or 5 stations so we could do several runs on it and then show her how well we were doing. Cinders was really good at the first couple of courses, but we struggled on the sit, down and walk around. I was trying to cut down on the treats and then pushing the difficulty and this was my fault. I also realised that we were getting close to the end of the session and was getting tired. We will go back to using treats and making it fun for Cinders next week. 26/8/2013 0 Comments SKCWent up to Scotland for Scottish Kennel Club Show. Trek was second in Limit and Fart was 3rd in Open. However the judge seemed to not realise that they were two different dogs. Had a nice journey home and stopped and had a break at Annadale Lake services and gave the dogs a run. Photo is of Trek in front of Annadale Lake. 28/7/2013 0 Comments Gundog TrainingCinder and Nerys went to the Clumber Spaniel Clubs Training day with Nick Coates. Nick is a KC panel Judge and a great trainer who managed to get most of the dogs to do more complicated tasks by breaking them down into individual components. Both Cinder and Nerys did well and I now know what i need to concentrate on to move forward.
23/7/2013 1 Comment July 22nd, 2013Australian Brad Drummond meets Trek and Nerys in Lichfield. It was warm so the dogs had a dip in the pool. In the Photo Brad has an eager Trek waiting for the dummy to be thrown in the water.
13/7/2013 0 Comments East of England Critique is in DW1 Shipton’s Can Ch Winfarthings Jonathan Archer for Mishules, a real stunner, in full gleaming coat, black, moved with drive round the ring , well off for bone & exactly the substance a Field should have, a beautiful gentle expression giving nothing away on his 8½ years, just the right height to length ratio with good rib & lovely deep chest. Straight topline held on stack & on the move with good bend of stifle, in profile a real Field outline. Unfortunately in the challenge the heat I think got to him & just lost out on the movement of the bitch. CC;
